What is the N-BASE Information Service ?

The N-Base Information Service is provided by NENIG - the Northern European Nuclear Information Group. NENIG is based in the Shetland Islands of Scotland and provides information on the nuclear industry and its environmental consequences, particularly reprocessing at Dounreay and Sellafield, nuclear transports, waste production and storage, marine pollution and other related issues. The service includes:
  • N-Base Database - a unique reference source containing about 12,000 records of UK newspaper articles dating from 1987.

  • N-Base Briefings - up-to-date accurate reports on the civil nuclear industry which are e-mailed to subscribers every 7-10 days. A sample edition of the Briefings is on this site and you can ask for free trial copies to be sent to you by e-mail. Archive copies of past Briefings are published on this Web Site.

NENIG members are Sanne Bruyne, Chris Bunyan, Alistair Easton, and Rose Young. Our income comes from subscriptions to the N-Base Briefings together with a few donations and grant aid from Shetland Islands Council. Our funding is extremely limited and greatly restricts our ability to improve and widen our information services.

  • The perspective of Europe from Shetland looks very different.
